Beefs stun Whatevers with four-game sweep; take over first place by two games

Rod Caborn’s Beefers stunned Walt Taylor’s Whatevers Friday afternoon (May 13) with a four-game sweep on the road at the Whatevers Whoville Stadium. The four wins lifted the Beefers into a two-game lead over Dave Larson’s Taz Devils (12-8) and dropped the Whatevers into fourth place at 9-11, with Craig Dolan’s Tsunamis moving up a notch into third place (13-13).

Three of the games were decided in extra innings in what was a hard-fought series for both teams. The three extra-inning games could have gone either way. The Beefs hit .208 for the series and the Whats hit .209. The big difference was in the power stats, with the Beefs piling up 10 homers and 19 extra-base hits compared to the Whats, who had 12 extra-base hits and five homers.
